Ramblings and rants about the amusing, stupid things that happen to me in and around Cincinnati.

Still Bored

Holy Shit! I heard Roxy's coming back tomorrow.

Can't juggle again tomorrow. Five out of my ten fingers (including both thumbs) are split from the freakin' cold weather Ohio brings. Sorry Mark, Arn & Nancy, you'll have to hold down the fort for another week.

I have absolutely nothing to write about. My life has become so boring. Thank god I have a Super Bowl party on Sunday. Hell, it even hurts my fingers trying to type. Maybe. I'll just go to bed now.

I'm Bored!

That's all. I've reduced myself to watching The Newlyweds Nick and Jessica. Can I be anymore pathetic?

Perhaps, I should run upstairs to do my Youthful Essence treatment! Living high on a Saturday night.

Saturday Night

Sitting at the computer with the UC - Houston game on my screen. The Bearcats are kicking their asses. Final score - Cincinnati 87 Houston 68.

Anyway, we did get an ice storm this morning. My son, Nick, called to tell me all the adventures he saw while trying to go to work. He started off by sliding on the ice and ending up under his neighbor's truck. There were massive pile-ups on the road by his apartment complex, a woman parking her 4WD and it continues to keep on sliding as she grabs on to the door and slides with it and more pile-ups. Sounded like a sitcom to me.

Haven't left the house all day, although I need to go out to my car and grab another pack of cigs.

Just tried to write a review on
Mulholland Drive on my Indie-Culture site. I re-watched the DVD last night, but can't really review it. It's just too damn complicated. So, I did the best I could.

Mulholland Drive

Finally got Paul to give me back my copy. Gonna watch it here in a few minutes and write a review tomorrow. This is my FAVORITE movie ever!

Supposed to be another bad day in southern Ohio. I got the email from my co-worker "Ms. Weather Worrier."

It said..."My Weather Bug just went off and we're going to get 1-3" of snow and ice tomorrow."

I responded with, "Good, that gives me another excuse to not doing anything tomorrow besides lying in bed, reading, watching movies, writing and sleeping."

Ms. WW writes back, "If you need provisions, you better get them on your way home tonight."

Who in the hell uses the word "provisions"?

I wrote Ms. WW back, "Thanks, Mom. I'll be sure and pick up some beer on the way home."

ESPN2

Holy crap, they actually showed 30-40 minutes of juggling tonight!

Just Move Up A Few Feet, Damn It!

What is with these assholes who can't read a sign that says something like, um, I don't know, "Stop here to activate signal."

Geez, can they fucking read? I am so sick of sitting behind these idiots for 5-10 minutes because they're morons! Move up already!

Get The Fucking Tennis Match Over Already

I had a doctor's appointment and got out of there fast enough to make it to Rafferty's. Bev promised us (Judy and me) that we could watch the juggling on ESPN2. But, shit, the tennis ran on for hours. Of course, it never happened. I think it was just a sick joke...Although, it was listed in all the tv guides.

Got this message from Piqua Rick (aka P rick) tonight:

"Wow, I just watched that much heralded WJF juggling show and I'm glad now that I missed that convention....it sure as hell looked for the world to me like %#@*& ing tennis!!

P rick"

It's After Midnight!

Hung out with my kids tonight. How much fun is that?

Nick, Candice, Jim & Sara...I love you guys!

Man, it's after midnight and I need sleep (and my meds). They went to IHop; can't do that. I need to go to bed now. It's interesting to hear they know Mom (Mama) is looking over them. It's not just me imagining this shit. She's all around.

Anyway, it's time for bed now. Good night.

Algebraic Terrorism

Received this email earlier from Merry; I think it is hilarious:

Subject: Terrorism
Date: January 21, 2005 2:31:07 PM CST
Subject: Teacher Arrested at JFK Intl, Suspected Terrorist

NEW YORK - A public school teacher was arrested today at John F.Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, Attorney General John Ashcroft said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction."

Al-gebra is a fearsome cult," Ashcroft said. "They desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute value. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3 sides to every triangle'."

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said, "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes." White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the president.

Perhaps My Life Is Extremely Boring

Geez, I don't have anything to say...other than I'm not writing any freaking articles tonight!

Hey,
The World Juggling Federation (WJF) actually has some TV time coming up Thursday and Friday on ESPN2. Set my tivo--actually my computer to record them.

Will anybody really watch this crap besides us jugglers? I plan on going to Rafferty's Thursday night and demanding they put it on the big screen. Who knows, we sit there and watch pool challenges and celebrity poker for hours. So, why the hell not watch juggling?

Bev, get ready for
ESPN2...Thursday night!

Nice Sticky Mail

Got a sticky mail from a WebmasterWorld member tonight. I posted when mom died...over a month ago? And it was very sweet.

"Hola - I only went to 1 pubcon in London a few years back, not sure if I met you - but your post brought tears to my eyes - and I just wanted to tell you you'll be in my prayers tonight! I have aging parents and the idea of losing them is one of the worst things I can imagine at this point in my life - and my heart goes out to you.
Hugs from Anchorage, Stace "

Very nice. Stace, I don't know who you are? It doesn't matter, just nice to to hear from you!

Busy

Knocked out two more reviews tonight on my Indie Culture site! Man, this is a lot of hard work. But worth it, I hope.

Did You See The Sunset?

What a beautiful sky tonight! In the west was the fiery reddish, orange sunset and in the east, a full moon rising. It was one of those scenes I would have called mom and told her to look out the window. Hope you saw it, mom!

On another note, dad is having a stress test tomorrow. I'm sure he's fine. That old fart is the healthiest seventy-ish old man I've ever seen.

Kick some ass, dad!

Didn't Do Much Today

I stuck to my promise and took it easy today. Let's see, I slept late, read my new "Entertainment Weekly", read the new "TV Guide", played on the Internet, did laundry, wrote a little and now I'm watching TV.

Same thing tomorrow!

Fatty Pants

Supposed to get another 3-5 inches tonight and tomorrow. Stocked up on beer; I'm ready for it!!!

Gonna sleep all day (kind of), read a bunch of stuff I bought from Amazon, write and watch DVDs! Can't wait! This is my little vacation. No stress this weekend. Oh yeah, I even filled my gas tank tonight.

Wrote another article tonight; pssst, I'm on a roll. Now I'm going to watch one of my favorite DVDs ever "GO." I'll have a review ready tomorrow!

Will The Snow Stop?

Started snowing this afternoon and so far there are 4-5" on the ground. Not sure how I'll get to work tomorrow. There's a little stupid hill on my street and my little stupid car does not work well in snow, rain or anything wet.

Hey, I wrote another
DVD review on my Indie Site - Laurel Canyon! If I could just do one of these a day, instead of one a week! Remember last night I told you about Bonnie and Clyde? I did rewatch most of the movie last night and just felt inspired enough to write about it.

That's it for now!

Bonnie & Clyde

Haven't written for a few days. Been slammed at work; not much time to play. Tomorrow is the one month anniversary of my mom's death. Not sure how I'll deal with it.

On my way home tonight, I was listening to my iPod and "Bonnie and Clyde" came on by Sergio Gainsbourg featuring Brigette Bardot. The first time I heard this song on WOXY (bam the future of rock and roll), I thought it was total horse shit!

But, after watching "Laurel Canyon" numerous times, one of my faves, it is a perfect song for a perfect scene. As a matter of fact, I may just go and watch this excellent movie again. One of these days I'll write a review on my Indie movies, dvd, tv, music, hi-tech site.

I had a bizarre memory tonight of when mom and I went shopping at the linen outlet store (shit, 20 years ago?). Long story short; waiting for the light to turn, some idiot ran the red light on the main road, hitting another car (with an older couple in it), their car spinned out and hit me. We had just bought a bunch of towels and the old man was bleeding profusely. We took a mauve-colored towel up to him to soak up the blood. And, for some reason, mom took it home and washed it.

A few weeks later, Doug and his first wife Elaine were staying at mom's. Before they got into the shower, mom handed Doug two towels, one blue and one mauve. He looked at the mauve towel and said, "What is this, the death towel?" He gave Elaine the mauve towel and said, "A blue one for me, and a pink one for you."

By the way, that old man died in the accident. As did Bonnie and Clyde.

Garden State

Finally got around to writing a review of "Garden State" on my site indie-culture. I re-watched the film earlier today, and I still love it.

Paul, Nick and I went to O'Chucks tonight to hang out with Roxy. We didn't have anything else to do.

I was there for about ten minutes, when she opened a bottle of wine. The neck snapped off and cut her fingers very badly. Blood dripped everywhere. Rick took her to the emergency room. I hope everything is ok.

Feeling Creative

I really want to write something on my site about Independent Music, DVDs, Hi-Tech & TV, but I'm lost again in the template. I need to reorganize this stuff, but can't figure out how!

For instance, the new Apple Shuffle (512 mb for $99.00 & 1 gb for $149.00) was released a few days ago; can't write about it until I reorganize. I'm very interested in the new Apple Mini...never owned a Mac, but at those prices, I could. Starting at only $499.00! I would love to have an Apple just to play around with and see all the cool features.

My mom used to have an Apple IIC, way back in the day. Personally, I always thought that Apple IIC was a piece of shit. The word processer that came with it was like coding html. Then I got into the corporate world and discovered software like WordPerfect, and later, Word.

Of course, it was hard getting my co-workers to switch from WordPerfect to Word and Lotus to Excel. As a matter of fact, I could probably walk into that CPA firm tomorrow and find Paul still using Lotus version 4.0. I truly doubt, Mary, my successor ever got him to switch! Geez, I know I never could convince him.

I Remembered A Stupid Story For You, Mom

We were meeting with the funeral director; what a horrible day. This guy would start telling, long, dragged out stories and Dad would follow with more long, dragged out stories...At one point I leaned over to Paul and said, "Give me your belt." He said, "Why?" My response: "So I can go freakin' hang myself!"

Back to the point. As we were telling the long-toothed guy the info for the obituary, you know, Dan (Angie), Doug (Dorothy) the stuff in the parentheses. Paul wanted to be listed as William Paul. Smart-ass Doug yells out, "Put Paul in parentheses." Heehee; I know he's gay because it was in the newspaper.

Love you Mom and I hope you're finally comfortable. BTW, is Silver up there...doubt it! But tell Blackie, Punkin, Maddie, Mott, Patches, Bingo...I love them (maybe not Mott; that bastard used to make me go to my car walking backwards). Also tell Grandma & Grenada I said hi.

Spank My Ass And Call Me Stella

Actually, it's not Stella, but salad. A hot sauce. Personally, I like Stella better.

New opportunity

Hooked up with Ron...for a few minutes. Turns out my buddy has been thinking about a new venture!

It could work. The important thing is, he remembered his idea and actually made contact with other person.

Time to clean out the right side of my closet. Haven't worn this stuff since 5-1/2 years ago when I was in the "corporate culture." Goodwill, here I come. I don't need this crap; for real, I work inside a pool house and could wear my jammies if I wanted to. Actually, I did a few weeks ago and nobody cares as long as you're wearing something.

Talk to you later.

Did It Again

Just did another long post and lost it because of the stupid spell check. When will I learn to "Save as Draft"?

Think, think, Rochelle, what did you just write? The thing I remember most is maybe my life is really boring, not ever boring!

Tonight was Roxy's birthday party. Happy Birthday Biotch!

Skipped out on juggling again; not sure when I'll return. I can't get my head together yet since Mom passed away. Rachel & Cindy were going tonight, but I can't deal with it yet, plus had a birthday party. Not ready yet for the juggling scene.

Took care of Candice & Jim's animals and came home to find that Cleo (my dumb dog) had unplugged the router and speakers from my computer. Had to bribe her with cheese so I could climb under the computer desk and plug everything back in. (Ya see, when it's raining or even rain threatening, Cleo hides under my computer desk and quivers. The only way to get her out is with cheese.)

Last night, Dad gave me Mom's rings. Just have to get approval from Paul, Dan & Doug before I have them reset. Mom & Dad both had said previously they wanted me to have them since I am the first-born and only daughter. They both want me to pass them on to Candice. Mom had it reset after her Mother died in 1982...a few months before Candice was born. Of course, I don't have a diamond to add to the cluster, but Candice has a kick-ass one to pass on to her daughter (assuming she quits hating kids).

That's all I have for now. Love ya Rox and hope you have a great time with Rick tomorrow!

Hey Simon & Lila, I love you

Tonight and tomorrow, I have to babysit Candice & Jim's animals...Simon, the big old fat kitty and Lila, the little Cockateel who freaks out when i yell, in a high pitched voice, "Pretty Girl." I got stuck watching "24" and missed out on the Skyline junk food. They still had their light on and I'm sure they were laughing their asses off as I sat at the drive-thru for 10 minutes. Had to settle for a "Fillet o' Fish" from McDonald's. What a disappointment!

A shout out to Kat...Ms. Queen of the games! Don't know how in the hell she knows what she's doing. We played "Photo Hunt" as a pair, but I guarantee, I only contributed 20% (at the most). Kat, you ROCK!

Finally got home, and that little stupid kitty, Chez, ran out on me. She's not fixed and was in heat last week. Chez, get your ass home, NOW! Poor, timid, Cleo (the dog) is afraid of the dark so I couldn't convince her to go find Chez.

Gotta sign off now, tomorrow is Roxy's birthday party. Love you Rox! Oh, yeah, Mark, Arn, Nancy...won't be juggling again tomorrow.

Baby Shower

Went to O'Chuck's today for a baby shower. Dave, a server, and his wife are about to have twins. Roxy did a great job with this shower. Plenty of appetizers, Alicia, our server, made tons of money and everybody had a good time.

Now I'm home trying to work on my new website, Indie-Culture, gotta write at least one page tonight!

Quote of the Year

I read my latest issue of "Entertainment Weekly" today and under the Books section they interviewed Susan Jane Gillman. I don't recall hearing about her book: "Hypocrite in a Pouffy White Dress" but I'm intrigued and quickly ordered this and three other items from Amazon.

The question is: "You grew up in Manhattan but now reside in Washington D.C." Her answer: "Living in New York is like having somebody's hand down your pants all the time. On one hand, you can't believe your good fortune, but at some point you get so hyperstimulated your're no longer functional."

How freakin' great is that quote? Can't wait to read the book!

Time To Work

This sucks!

So, I can't figure out the blogger software, I write a post and run spellcheck and lose it all!

Now, back to the point (I'll save it as draft this time).

I bought a new url and hosting last night:
http://www.indie-culture.com/. The point is to try to challenge those to get out of the media-fed mode. Too much good music, dvds and tv that nobody knows about!

For example, "Arrested Development" on Fox, Sundays at 8:30 p.m. est, is the most original, funny and clever series since "Seinfeld"...but, even better. It's produced by Ron Howard (Opie) and he is also the narrator. It won the emmy last year for best comedy series. A great feat for a show that almost got cancelled! PEOPLE, YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS SHOW!

Pinback. I've heard three songs from this band and they totally rock!

"Garden State." Very cool movie. In the same vein as "Pieces of April", "The Station Agent" and "Kissing Jessica Stein." Nice, sweet and beautiful. I'll write more later on my new site.

Gotta get busy now.

Breakdown

Mom, you must be watching me right now. All of the sudden, I felt that empty hole in my heart. I'm crying like a little girl for you right now.

I've been so strong the last two weeks, but I miss you so much!

Wasn't So Hard Afterall!

Solved the template dilemna. Jim came over tonight and we are starting to get serious about this stuff!

Easy Templates, My A** And New Kitties Coming Soon

My goal for tonight was to modify this stupid template! Unfortunately, I can't right now...I don't feel like it. All I want to do is sleep.

Saturday night, returning from Columbus, I realized Chez, our new kitty was missing. Nobody had seen her since Friday morning. Around 6:00 a.m. this morning, I heard cries outside my window. It was so hot in this house last night, I had to open windows and put a t-shirt and shorts on. I had told Patricia (the oldest kitty) to go find Chez. I opened the door and Patricia comes in, followed a few seconds by Chez. Tricia did her job (bless her little heart).

The problem is, Chez is in heat. But damn, they'll be cute little things!

Happy New Year And Have You Ever Watched Dan Pee?

New Year's Eve, arrrrrrrrr; had to work my normal day until 5:00 p.m. I knew my family had made some drunken plans over Christmas to do something, but nobody could remember what they were. Reminder: my mother passed away five days before Christmas.

My friends Arn & Nancy mentioned having a party, but all of our friends had plans. Then it came up we were going to Columbus and spend it the "Dangies." That would be Dan, Angie, Tyler, Kara & Tevor, even though Ty Man was going to Times Square for the ball drop-down.

I got there around 8:00 p.m. after getting lost numerous times...no phone service to call (thank you CBW!) Lot's of food, drinks and fun games.

Around 1:30 a.m.; Angie, Dorothy and I hit the hot tub. Unfortuanely, we stayed out there for about two hours and kept drinking. The good news is I'm still alive.

Dorothy & Angie started comparing their weird husbands' neat habits (my brothers) and Angie says, "Have you guys ever watched Dan pee?" Uhmmm, no! What was she thinking?
